Sonu, Shreya, and Zoobi Doobi

After a long time, a movie came that I could not get enough of. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, it makes you think ... and think hard. Although the story of "3 Idiots" deal with the stale topic of being able to choose your own career and not the one shoved into your throat by your parents and other family members, the presentation of the message and issues that surround it are exemplary.

All songs compliment the movie very well. Each song in this movie is a gem. Usually I judge the success of songs when kids get hooked to it. And trust me, plenty of little kids have been hooked to songs in this movie, specially AAL IZ WELL, Zoobi Doobi, and their remixed versions.

Last but not least, Sonu and Shreya did it again! Zoobi Doobi is sung with such an assertion, confidence, and attitude that is very commendable! The style of this song reminded me of Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle, and the golden era of Hindi Film Industry. I truly felt both singers sang with a great level of comfort, joy, and command. Spectacular is the word that comes to mind.

This is an excited, yet humble attempt that Deblina and I made. I want to thank her for finishing this really fun project with me. I would appreciate your feedback very much.

PS: A much better quality of this song exists on my Facebook page (please see the link on the right side). Also, for more feedback and comments please visit Deblina's Muziboo page

You sang this difficult rendition with such a perfection that I have even forgotten how the original sounded when I saw the movie! Good Job done... Keep it up!

I would like to make a request to you: could you attempt more of the old, lilting and ever-green songs (period: 1940s-1950s-1960s) in both male and female voices of yore? Un gaanon mein tarz hai, tarannum hai, taaqat hai, khoobi hai, dard bhi hai aur mithas bhi...woh mithas jo dobarah layee jasakti hai...hum jaise purani filmisangeet ke diwaanon keliye...please?

Excellent can be the only word.....you both have sung with such finesse that I am lost for other suitable words. I am not at all surprised, but the ability you both have is tremendous and can sing any given song with great perfection and liveliness! Rocking performance!!! Loved it!!! Good coordination, especially at the end. Liked Azam's voice modulation at the beginning. The subtle 'naughtiness' in Deblina's voice was just perrrrrfect.

One minor observation (could be just me), about the mixing. I guess the treble was slightly higher, making the 's' sound too sharp. It's in the mixing, certainly not a shortcoming of either of your voices though. I guess a tad more bass would smooth out those otherwise 'sharp' edges.

A rocking rendition, nevertheless.

Sai, thanks so much! This song is from a very recent movie 3 Idiots. I do not watch too many movies but can definitely watch this one again!

Asim Da,
Your observations are always excellent and to the point. The treble is slightly higher indeed. Often the people involved in a song have to hear it over and over. This tends to make your ears prone to miss certain details. One that I am always doubtful about is volume levels so I always ask the co-singer to point that, in particular, out to me.

I thank you very much for your caring and concern!

Khan Bhai and Deblina - bohot badhiya song selection aur aapne gaya bhi kamaal hai...I could see the confidence in both of your voices. This is what i like about you that you take care of the nitpicks of the original and do it to perfection. Its just like listening to the original w/o sonu and shreya's voice....3 cheers to both of you.
