Tumse Milke - Main Hun Na (2004)

Sonu Nigam has sung this song beautifully. I heard him perform this song live and he did an equally amazing job! While the original song featured Aftab and Hashim Sabri, sons of ustad Ghulam Ali Khan, Sonu's live performance included Amjad Sabri who is the son of very famous Qawwal Ghulam Fareed Sabri.

I am slightly hesitant to call this song a Qawwali since many elements of a qawwali are missing and the final product is more of a fusion of Western music, Qawwali and traditional Hindi film music. some may call it a modern Qawwali! Irrespective of what we decide to name this rendition, the fact is that it is an engaging one with Sonu's superb voice control and I have always loved it.

While recording, I had to act three voices for this song and I must admit it was a lot of fun. I also have taken the liberty to add some funky effects for the voice with English words.

I hope you will enjoy it. Please do leave your valuable feedback if time permits.

Song: Tum Se Mil Ke Dil Ka
Movie: Main Hun Na (2004)
Original Singer: Sonu Nigam
Music Director: Anu Malik
Lyricist: Javed Akhtar

Versatility at its best!
Loved the different voices, especially "dhoom tara dhoomaa..."
The tongue twister, fast paced "Dekho pyare, ye nazare"...impressed!
My favorite, the soft and romantic, "tum ko pooja hai..ibadat ki hai" and "mere dil mein kya hai..tum ne ye na jaana"

Aur kya kahoon!...sun ne walon ke chehron par rangat aa jaye, muskarahat chha jaye aisa ganaa hai, aise gayaa hai.

Tooooo Good Khan bhai. All the voices including your original were very pleasant. Singing was very good but thought that the mix was below average from your standards. Your main vocals were a bit different from what I have heard you before. This song especially could be very difficult to mix as there are so many different aspects and voices.

But overall your effort was commendable given that you took care of all the nuances in the song.

I loved the "Check that, Like that, Wicked" portions:), Overall I would say, Stupendo Fantabulously FANTASTICAL performance:)

Azam Khan said...

AJ, thanks for your detailed feedback! I spent quite a bit of time on mixing this song. This was the best I liked.

Looks like all the adjectives have already been used up here..."versatility", "acting", and more. By now the blog world is quite familiar with your versatility. I loved your 'acting' in this song. Voice is, as always, warm..smooth..melodious.

Not sure how I missed this entry of yours. Sorry for the lateness.

Asim Da,

As always I have nothing to say, as you are always superb...keep singing, we would keep enjoying :-)
