Andaaz-e-Maseehayee

Parasmani Acharya is a doctor of medicine and is an expert in providing medical treatment. But when I heard her songs at Taranaa, I thought that her voice alone was enough to cure people and the degree of medicine was perhaps an over-qualification :)

Parasmani's voice takes you back to the past of sweet memories. Our mind starts hearing Geeta Dutt's and Shamshad Begum's everlasting voices. I have been very lucky to have many wonderful songs sung with her. Here, I am presenting another beautiful song from movie "Mohabbat Isko Kehte Hain". The charms of Shashi Kapoor and stances of Nanda are too hard to ignore, specially when backed up by the voices of Mohammed Rafi and Suman Kalyanpur. Khayyam provided the composition and Majrooh Sultanpuri came up with the heart-touching lyrics!

Dear Azam:

Assalamo Alaikum!

I'm sorry for my belated response. I've been traveling, and just didn't know
what to say to an accomplished artist and a man of science. Indeed, it has
been a pleassure to listen to you singing Rafi sahb and Kishoreda.

Aapki awaaz khuda ki ek dein hain, Inaayat hain. Aur aapke ke halaq mein
woh Rafiana Soz, Surilapan or Sukuun hain. Aapke bemeesal tarannum sunke dil
ko bada chein milta hein. Hum Maalik se dua karte hain ki woh aapki har
Tamanna, Aarzoo, Hasrat...Ummeed puri kare.

Khuda Hafez.

Azam and Paras... Bahot khub ... Mashaallah! Kamal kar diya aap dono ne. Azam let all the ... shararat and masti flow in his sinuous rendition and Paras responded effortlessly with that demure tease of "Unhuh ".

Aur ek sunao apne dil ki.

Azam Khan said...

Anonymous, Dilshad, Deblina, Ntin, Reshma, thanks a bunch for listening to this rendition. Really appreciate your time!

Dr. Sattar sahab, your words are very encouraging and give me a lot of strength to keep going. Thank you so much!

Khan Sahab & Parasmani - Very impressive. I have always been a fan of Hard Rock but your your voice and control over it makes it very easy for me to make this huge jump in music styles and enjoy it.

Azam Khan said...

Saqib, I feel very delighted to see such comments coming from a Hard Rock fan! This song has no connection with anything remotely close to Hard Rock and yet your listening to it gives me a lot of encouragement.

Thanks a lot for your time!

Pradip, thank you so much for such a great comment. The credit for selecting this song goes to Paras again. She has the knack of selecting songs with perfect "shairi" and mood. This is one of the highly gratifying songs I have sung!

Thank you Anon, Sattar Sahab, Dilshad, Deblina, Nitin, Saqib Sahab, Pradip, Harshan, Anish, Raksha & Sharad and Vishal..
I fell in love with this song when I first heard it. Rafi Sahab's voice and shararat would make any girl buckle at the knees. Suman ji's singing compliments Nanda's coy gestures. I was in disbelief when I heard Azam's voice..so reminiscent of Rafi era...It is one of Azam's best and I had to try hard to keep up.

Thehriye hosh mein aaa loonn....
Aaah jo dilse nikalti hai asar rakhti hai.... Azam Bhai and Paras.. Magical performance...
Have listened to singers who juss capture the minds and bodies of the listener by casting the spell of their words..Aaj aapke dono k awaaz k jaadu ne mujh per bhi yehi asar kiya .. Ek to shayeri mein jadoogari aur uper se gayeki mein jaadoogari....Rooh ko taskeen pohonchane waali...... Enjoyed it very much..... Thanks for making such a nice presentation...

Happy Singing and God Bless You..

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn:

I mean Azam Khan seriously, you have done it this time. Kill me once and I get pissed off. Kill me softly twice I want to say...fabulouso.

I have been listening to this since I was a kid. I have asking this guy to do a duet with me. I know I sound miserable, but his voice uplifts me and my singing.

I have always said that he has magic in his voice. But he never listens. I have always also said, that I am a damn good musician, hire me. But he never listens. If you ask him about my music talents, he will tell you I am simply amazing.

On a seriously serious not, I would love to go to my grave listening to his voice.

Oh by the way Parasmani Acharya has done an extremely good job as well.

I am serious about going pro now, for myself Badshah Khan, tum kya bolta hai. ?

Bahut Pyaar and Dua
Chotha Khan :)

Nice job.....once again. You two should sing more often.

You're doing a greattttt job and please keep it going.. You can surely add my name under your 'regulars'... ;) Am surely coming back for more... :)

Haven't had time to listen to it all.. but I loved the songs I heard so far. I think your voice will suit R.D.Burman saab's songs too. Maybe you should try singing those too some day!

I would love to hear you sing 'Aye mere pyaare watan' from the movie 'Kabuliwala'. Do sing it when time permits :)

Parasji's voice is all very nice. You both compliment each others voice actually. Great Duo! :)

Azam and Paras,

This is one of the best duets I have heard in a long time! It is as good as the original by Rafi Sahab and Sumanji. I am a great fan of Rafi Sahab. I must say that it is for the first time that I feel a singer as Azam has paralleled the surila, nashila andaz of Rafi Sahab.

Wonderfully done!
It would be great to have more duets from you both.

- Mala

Azam Khan said...

Mala, I really appreciate your comments! However, to sing even close to Rafi sahab is what I can still only dream about. K.J. Yasudas Ji once said that a student of music can learn much more by listening to Rafi sahab than reading many books on music; comments from people like you with big hearts help me become such a student.

Dr. Harish Grover said...

Parasji and Azam,

Your duet is excellent. It was a pleasure to listen. You should do "Jo wada kiya vo nibhana padega".
